  2.                Step 4: Setup Licensing

  6. EnlightenDSM software is licensed using FLEXlm technology. All components are
  7. installed in the "FLEXlm" sub-directory on the EMD host.  For EnlightenDSM to 
  8. operate, a license file which contains a SERVER line, a VENDOR line, and a 
  9. minimum of three license strings must be provided. The total number of license 
  10. strings will depend on the number of remote hosts being managed and the vendor 
  11. supplying the license strings.

  13. For the basic operation, EnlightenDSM requires the following three license 
  14. strings: One license string for the GUI, a second license is required to run 
  15. the GMS, and a third required license to run the Administration Agent. A 
  16. typical installation will have multiple agents, requiring additional multiple 
  17. agent licenses. Also note, all licenses for the EnlightenDSM components, 
  18. including local and remote agents, are stored in the license file named 
  19. "license.dat" which always resides in the FLEXlm sub-directory on the EMD host.

  21. The License window allows you to create, update and edit a license.dat file.
  22. The license file created in this step will be installed during Step 5. This 
  23. window contains the following fields and toggles:

  25. License File:
  26. Use this toggle to specify whether to Install, Upgrade, or Don't Install a 
  27. license file. Selecting the Upgrade option will allow you to modify an 
  28. existing license file. When upgrading, retrieve an existing license file 
  29. by pressing the 'Get License File' button.

  31. EMD Host:
  32. Use this field to specify which host is the EMD server.

  34. EMD Install dir.: 
  35. Use this field to specify the full pathname to the EMD installation directory.

  37. Root Password:
  38. Use this field to specify the root password of the EMD host.

  40. Get License File:
  41. This button is only available if you have selected to Upgrade an existing 
  42. license file. Press this button to retrieve the existing file so you may make 
  43. your edits.

  45. The scrolled text field in the bottom of the window is used to enter the license
  46. information. Please enter the license string information exactly as it has been
  47. provided for you by your EnlightenDSM vendor. For your convenience, default 
  48. SERVER and VENDOR information is automatically provided for you. You must still
  49. enter the multiple license keys provided to you by your EnlightenDSM vendor.
